There are a ton of small compartments inside and outside the pack as well, most notably two small compartments at the top on the outside which are great for storing wallets, keys, allen wrench sets, etc. These bags are usually designed with a large, easily accessible main storage compartment, along with lots of pockets to organize gear and clothing while traveling.
