I've been recording for years, but never paid much attention to the disciplines of mastering, as having cut my studio teeth on analog gear(far more forgiving), my master was what came out of the stereo output from my 4-tack recorder, and it only required bouncing down to 2 track tape to be complete. I'm aware that there's a good deal more to it, and that's why I've taken it upon myself to learn what I can. Much of what little I've read so far, points to various combinations of such utilities in mastering, and that if those effects are identifiable by ear, then I'm doing it wrong(Less is MORE).
